There is no registration cap for any of the distances; however, we strongly prefer pre-registration and as such online registration does not close until less than 24-hrs before the event start! Early registration ends Friday, September 12th, 2025 @ 12:00 Noon CDT - there will be a price increase after that time. Online registration closes Saturday, September 20th, 2025 @ Noon CDT - there will be a price increase after that time as well.
Marathon = $45 early / $55 late / $65 race day
14k = $35 early / $45 late / $55 race day
5k = $20 early / $30 late / $40 race day
The primary course is a loop encircling the park. The marathon will be three loops and the 14k will be one loop. The second course is a 5k and will be on paved & gravel roads. The trail course consists primarily of double-track trails with a little bit of gravel and a few road crossings along the way. You can find more information on the course info page.
All three events will officially end at 2:30 p.m. Central Time. Anyone taking more than 7:00:00.00 to complete this event will have a DNF in the official results. Also, after 5:00:00.00 no marathoner will be allowed to begin a third loop - they must exit the course. Any marathoner who has not begun their third loop by the 5-hour mark will have a DNF in the official results. Please consider and respect these time limits before registering.
There will be two aid stations*. One at the start/finish, and one at the midpoint along the loop (4.3 mi). Aid stations will have H2O, Gatorade, bananas, and snacks. We encourage runners to carry refillable bottles* for fluids. PLEASE NOTE there is not an aid station along the route for the 5k.
Awards will be given to the top two male and female finishers in each of the three races. Finisher mementos for those completing the MARATHON will be provided; nothing special, just something small and environmentally friendly to remember the event by.
Marathon participants may bring a drop bag if they wish. It can be left near the start/finish of the loop and will then be available at miles 9.1 & 17.7. Please plan weather accordingly though. Drop bags will simply be set out in a designated area completely exposed to the elements.
On race day follow the signs starting at the park entrance. Runners, volunteers, and spectators will be parking at the Lincoln Amphitheater. After entering the park take the first available right turn (there is a road on the right before this turn, but it is blocked with a gate) and stay on that road until it ends at the amphitheatre parking lot. The start/finish area will be at the entrance to the parking lot.
It is our intention to to keep environmental responsibility on our minds when executing this event. As part of that effort the park's entry fee (per vehicle; $7 for IN tags / $9 for out-of-state) will be maintained for participants and spectators to encourage carpooling.
For those traveling from afar who will be overnight guests in the area you can find hotel accommodations in several area towns including Santa Claus, Dale, Ferdinand, Huntingburg, Jasper, and Owensboro.
Also, our host, Lincoln State Park has many camping and cabin opportunities. For park reservations call 1-866-622-6746, or do it online.
Finding enough volunteers for even a small race like this is very tough! If you don't think the race is for you this year, but would like to help, please contact us! We're always looking for folks who are available to help for the entire duration of the event (7+ hours from before the start until after the finish). We can't offer much more than a humble Thank You and the gratitude of knowing you're helping do your part for Lincoln State Park and the environment around you (and maybe some lunch from Subway).
